Before sunshine, vacations, outdoor adventures, and even warm weather, summertime is synonymous with one thing – eating great food in the great outdoors. If you were ready for the summertime BBQ season to begin at the first sign of spring, check out these recipes (some of ICO Orchard Farms’ favorites) to help you BBQ like a pro.
If you’re going to BBQ like a pro, better start with the staple of every summer barbecue since man first learned to throw meat on a fire – ribs. This recipe, courtesy of Food Network’s BBQ first family, The Neelys, takes some time to prepare, but is well worth the wait. Whether prepared dry or wet, with beef or pork, these ribs are fall-off-the-bone goodness and fairly simple to prepare, even for those of us who don’t hail from Memphis.
Nothing says summer like kabobs. The combination of fresh veggies and grilled meat is enough to kick anyone’s salivary glands into overdrive. This recipe, courtesy of The Mediterranean Dish, calls for meat, onions, and peppers, but feel free to add or substitute any veggies to your liking. As with most things BBQ, the secret is in the sauce. This marinade combines thinly sliced red onion, lemon, and olive oil, which can be continuously applied throughout the grilling process. You can’t go wrong with meat on a stick. Enjoy!
If you’re in the mood for chicken, and more specifically BBQ drumsticks, try this recipe from allrecipes.com user rachelu. It comes with rave reviews (including our own). The savory and sweet BBQ sauce gives the chicken that perfect summer BBQ glaze.
Okay, so this one might be cheating a little (it requires you to do some cooking indoors), but still, this pulled pork sandwich recipe should not be missed. Again from Food Network, this spice-rubbed roasted pork is topped with coleslaw and coated with a cider-vinegar barbecue sauce. And, even if they are prepared indoors, these sandwiches are best enjoyed while sitting at a picnic table in a backyard.
Here’s another simple BBQ recipe that can be prepared in the convenience of an indoor oven. This beef brisket from Simply Recipes takes the simplicity of a beef brisket roast and infuses it with classic barbecue flavor. It’s simple, it’s delicious, it’s summer BBQ.
Well, there’s a few of ICO Orchard Farms’ favorite summer BBQ recipes. Try them out for yourself or experiment with a few of your own. Either way, you’re outdoors, it’s summertime, and you’re eating great food. Happy BBQ season, everyone!
